What are the symptoms of Cholera?

The symptoms of cholera can vary from mild to severe and usually appear within 2-5 days after exposure to the bacteria. They include severe watery diarrhoea, vomiting, and leg cramps. In severe cases, dehydration can occur quickly and lead to shock, coma, and even death if left untreated.

How effective is the Cholera vaccine?

The cholera vaccine is safe and effective, with protection rates of up to 90% in some populations. The vaccine is available in both oral and injectable forms, with two doses required for optimal protection. While the vaccine is not 100% effective, it can significantly reduce the risk of contracting cholera and lessen the severity of symptoms if infection does occur.
