
HPV or Human Papillomavirus is usually a harmless virus that can go away by itself within two years. However, some forms of the HPV virus last longer and can lead to serious HPV infections. The HPV virus is a broad group of more than 150 similar viruses, out of which 40 varieties are transmitted through the sexual contact. While some varieties of the HPV virus can cause genital warts, cervical cancer and other forms of cancer.
