Cystitis

Cystitis is inflammation of the bladder which is usually caused by an infection. It is a common urinary tract infection in women and mild cases will often clear up without treatment. Symptoms include:

  • pain, burning or stinging when you pass water
  • needing to pass water more often and urgently than normal
  • urine that's dark, cloudy or smells strong
  • pain low down in your tummy
  • feeling generally unwell, achy, sick and tired

Men should see their own doctor for cystitis treatment as further tests will usually be needed.
