Diabetes

Diabetes is a disease that occurs when your blood sugar is too high. In this instance, your pancreas is no longer able to make insulin, or your body is no longer able to use the insulin your body makes. This disease can lead to heart, blood vessel and kidney damage if not managed properly.

It is important to know the signs and symptoms of prediabetes and diabetes. If you already suffer from these symptoms, there is a chance that the long-term damage of diabetes could already be in process. Long term damage can include the heart, blood vessels and kidneys, so it is vital to stay on top of this condition.

Prediabetes doesn’t necessarily have any signs or symptoms, however, it is possible that darkened skin in the neck, armpits, elbows, knees and/or knuckles could be an indicator. The best way to monitor for prediabetes includes regularly performed general blood tests that measure your blood sugar levels.

The telltale signs of diabetes are:

  • Increased (almost unquenchable) thirst
  • Frequent urination
  • Excess hunger
  • Fatigue
  • Blurred Vision

If you indeed have diabetes, there are diabetes medications that you will likely need to begin taking as well as dietary changes you will need to make in order to manage your blood sugar.

At Touchwood Pharmacy, we offer blood tests and diabetes medications to help you stay on top of your health and manage your diabetes in a meaningful way. You can speak to any of our knowledgeable, courteous pharmacists about your needs today in:
