Yellow fever is a mosquito-borne virus whose infection that can cause severe illness and even death. Yellow fever is primarily found in tropical and subtropical regions of Africa and South America and the vaccine is essential for travellers to these areas to prevent infection and to comply with international travel regulations. Many countries require visitors to carry evidence of their vaccination status when entering or transiting through them.
Those who are planning to travel to countries where yellow fever is present or required for entry are eligible to receive the yellow fever vaccine. Patients aged 9 months and over can be administered the yellow fever vaccination. Some countries also require proof of vaccination through a “Yellow Card” issued by authorized vaccination centres such as Touchwood Pharmacy Cippenham Yellow Fever vaccination clinic.
The yellow fever vaccine is not available from the NHS. It is administered only at designated yellow fever vaccination centres which include the Cippenham branch of Touchwood Pharmacy in Bath Road. These centres are authorized to provide the vaccine and issue the required International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis (ICVP), commonly known as the “Yellow Card.”
