NHS Service
One tablet a day. No needles, no fuss. If you’ve tried to lose weight before and feel like nothing has quite worked, you’re not alone. Losing weight is rarely just about willpower, and having the right support can make a real difference. At Touchwood Pharmacy, we now offer orforglipron, sold under the brand name Foundayo, a new once-daily weight loss tablet available through private prescription. If you’d rather avoid regular injections, it’s worth a conversation with our clinical team to see whether it could be right for you.
  • A once-daily tablet, no injections at any point in treatment
  • Available on private prescription after a consultation with our clinical team
  • Choose an in-store consultation or a quick online consultation with discreet home delivery
  • Twelve Touchwood Pharmacy branches across England
  • In-store or online? Whichever suits you

There’s no right way to start. Some people would rather come in and talk things through face to face, others prefer to keep the whole process private and do it from home. Both routes lead to the same clinical assessment and the same medicine, just delivered in whichever way works for you.

If you’d like to visit us, drop into your nearest Touchwood Pharmacy branch and book a consultation with our team. If you’d rather keep things discreet, complete a quick online consultation, and if you’re approved, we’ll get Foundayo delivered to your door.

    What is orforglipron (Foundayo)?

Foundayo is the brand name for orforglipron, a new weight loss tablet taken once a day rather than injected. It was authorised by the MHRA in August 2026, making the UK the first country in Europe to approve it, and it’s now available through private prescription at Touchwood Pharmacy.

Like other GLP-1 treatments, Foundayo is used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and regular physical activity to support weight loss and help you keep it off. It sits within a small but growing group of oral GLP-1 medicines, alongside injectable treatments such as semaglutide and tirzepatide, and it gives anyone who’d rather not use a needle another option worth discussing with a clinician.

    How does Foundayo work?

Foundayo works by mimicking GLP-1, a hormone your body produces naturally after eating, which helps you feel fuller for longer and reduces how hungry you feel.

Because it’s a small molecule rather than a peptide, you can take it at any time of day, with or without food, and there are no water restrictions to plan around. For anyone who has been put off weight loss injections by needle anxiety or simply the practicalities of storing and using an injectable, a tablet like this can feel like a much easier fit. In practice, that means:

No injections and no needles at any point in treatment

No fasting or water rules around when you take it

No fridge or cold chain storage needed

One tablet, once a day, alongside your normal routine

What is the Foundayo dosing schedule?

Treatment starts on a low dose and increases gradually, giving your body time to adjust and helping to reduce side effects such as nausea.

Your prescriber will set your own starting dose and titration plan, but treatment typically follows a step-up pattern such as:

0.8 mg once daily as a starting dose

Increasing to 2.5 mg once daily

    Then 5.5 mg once daily

    Then 9 mg once daily

    Then 14.5 mg once daily

Up to a maximum of 17.2 mg once daily, if needed and well tolerated

Each step is usually held for at least a month before the next increase. Please don’t change your own dose. If a particular dose feels difficult to manage, talk to your prescriber, who can adjust your plan or slow the pace of any increase.

Who may be eligible for Foundayo?

Orforglipron is authorised for adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or a BMI of between 27 and 30 with at least one weight-related health condition, alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.

You may be a suitable candidate if you:

are an adult with a BMI of 30 or above

have a BMI of 27 to 30 alongside a weight-related condition such as high blood pressure or type 2 diabetes

are ready to combine treatment with a reduced-calorie diet and regular physical activity

have no medical history that your prescriber identifies as unsuitable

Foundayo is a prescription-only medicine, so one of our clinicians will need to review your health history and circumstances before deciding whether it’s right for you.

When might Foundayo not be suitable?

Foundayo may not be suitable for everyone, which is exactly why a short assessment comes before any prescription. It’s likely not to be appropriate if you:

have a personal or family history of certain thyroid cancers, including medullary thyroid carcinoma

have Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2

are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding

have a history of severe digestive conditions that your prescriber would need to assess first

As with other medicines in the GLP-1 class, Foundayo carries a boxed warning relating to thyroid C-cell tumours seen in animal studies. This hasn’t been confirmed in humans, but our prescribers will screen for relevant risk factors during your consultation before deciding whether it’s appropriate for you.

    What happens at the consultation?

Your consultation is usually quick and straightforward.

We review your medical history, BMI and weight loss goals to check whether Foundayo is suitable for you.

You’ll have time to ask questions; there’s no such thing as a silly one.

If you’re approved, we’ll talk you through your starting dose and what to expect.

You’ll receive clear dosing guidance and ongoing support throughout treatment.

Possible side effects and safety information

Like all medicines, Foundayo can cause side effects, and these are usually mild and settle as your body adjusts to treatment. Commonly reported side effects with GLP-1 medicines include:

    nausea

    diarrhoea

    constipation

    indigestion

    reduced appetite

As with other GLP-1 medicines, Foundayo can slow down how quickly your stomach empties, which may affect how well some other oral medicines are absorbed. Tell your prescriber about everything else you take, including over-the-counter products, so they can advise you properly.

    Frequently asked questions

Not currently. NICE’s decision on its use for managing overweight and obesity is still awaited, and NHS access will depend on that outcome. In the meantime, it’s available privately with us following a consultation to check whether it’s suitable for you.

In clinical trials, orforglipron has shown somewhat less weight loss on average than injectable treatments such as semaglutide or tirzepatide, but it removes the need for an injection altogether. Which option suits you best depends on your health, your preferences and your prescriber’s advice.

In the main clinical trials, people taking the highest dose lost an average of just over a tenth of their body weight after 72 weeks. Individual results vary considerably, and Foundayo works best alongside a reduced-calorie diet and regular physical activity, not as a treatment on its own.

Yes. It’s a prescription-only medicine, so it can only be supplied once a consultation has confirmed it’s suitable for you.

No. Unlike some injectable GLP-1 treatments, Foundayo tablets don’t need refrigeration, so they’re simple to store at home and easy to travel with.

Yes. If you’d rather not visit in branch, you can complete a full consultation online, and, if approved, your medication will be delivered discreetly to your door.
