Symptoms Of Shingles

Some of the symptoms of shingles are quite similar to those of chickenpox. They include a high temperature, fever, headaches and a rash on one side of the body which can be painful and itchy.

While you only get chickenpox once in your life, the causative agent continues to remain inside the body. At a later stage in life, the virus becomes active again and causes shingles instead of chickenpox.

The risk of getting shingles increases with age, and you are most likely to get it if you have a weak immune system. For example, due to a medical procedure or illness when your immunity decreases, you may get shingles. You can’t become infected with shingles from a person already infected with either chickenpox or shingles. But, you can pass on the chickenpox infection why are you experiencing shingles.

Shingles vaccine available in south London, protects you against shingles and effectively decreases your risk of developing the virus. It is highly possible to develop shingles even if you have received the vaccine before. If this happens, the symptoms of shingles should be milder and recovery will be quicker.
